149 FOOTNOTE NUMBER ELEVEN چوں کی سر ز فطرت اے ناداں فطرتت چون فتاده است چناں Your nature has been moulded in the same fashion. O ignorant one! Why then do you turn away from nature? اقتضائے طبیعت انسان که نهاد ست ایزد منان The demand of human nature, Which has been granted by the Benevolent God, که بشر را کشد بوئے قیاس تا نهد کار را بعقل اساس گاه دیگر کشد Sometimes draws man towards thinking, So that his affairs are based on reason. بمنقولات تا بیار آمد از بیان ثقات At other times, it draws man to the narratives of others, In order to gain contentment from the statements of the trustworthy, زینکه آرام قلب و اطمینان جزء با خبار صادقال نتواں Because satisfaction and peace of mind are not possible Without the accounts of the truthful. نیز چون واجب است در تعلیم که بقدر خرد بود تفہیم Moreover, it is necessary for teaching To be at the level of intelligence [of the addressee]; لا جرم راہ کشاده اند دو تا تا رسید ہر طبیعتی بخدا Therefore, two paths are open, So that men of every nature may reach God, تا ذکی و غنبی و اشرف و دون ره بیابند سوئے آں بیچون And so that men of high and low intelligence, And both the eminent and the ordinary may walk towards that Incomparable One.
