Nevertheless, we do not approve of the way the European investigators are eager to prove that the teachings of Buddhism had reached Palestine in the days of Jesus, the Messiah. It is, indeed, regrettable that when the name and mention of Jesus, the Messiah, are found in the ancient books of Buddhism, these investigators should adopt the dubious course of trying to find traces of Buddha's faith in Palestine. Why do they not search for the blessed footprints of Jesus, the Messiah, in the mountains of Nepal, Tibet, and Kashmir? I know, however, that these research- ers could never be expected to uncover the truth which was lying hidden under a thousand veils of darkness; it was for God to do it. He watched from on high that man-worship was running ram- pant the world over, and worship of the cross and the fictional sacrifice of a human being had alienated the hearts of tens of mil- lions of people from the true God. It was then that His sense of Honour and care for what is sacred, holy and inviolable, made Him send into the world His servant, in the spirit of Jesus, the Messiah, of Nazareth, to demolish the creed of the cross. And he did come as the Promised Messiah in accordance with the proph- ecies of old. Then at long last came the time for the breaking of the cross, that is to say, the time when the error of the creed of the cross was to be manifested with perfect clarity quite like split- ting one piece of wood into two. Thus, heaven has now thrown open the way for the demolition of the cross, so let every seeker after truth now get up and search. True, [the belief in] the phys- ical ascension to heaven of Jesus, the Messiah, was a mistake but there was still a mystery within it. And that was that the reality of the life of the Messiah, that had been forgotten and lost, as a corpse is eaten up by the earth and is no more; that reality had an
