125 FOOTNOTE NUMBER ELEVEN گر کیسے گویدت باستحقار کہ دریں شہر چوں تو ہست ہزار If anyone tells you out of disdain That there are thousands like you in the city, نیستی از کسے بعقل فزوں باتو هم پایه اند مردم دوں You do not surpass them in your intelligence, Even the lowliest of men are your equal; مشتعل میشوی به کیں خیزی در دل آری که خون او ریزی آنچه بر خود روا You become furious and begin to begrudge him, And are bent on killing him. نمیداری چوں پسندی حضرت باری What you regard as improper treatment toward you, How can you approve it for God, the Creator? چوں پسندی که کار ساز امور ابكم ہست و از سخن معذور How can you believe that the Doer of everything Is mute and incapable of speech! چوں پسندی کہ واہب ہر نور بخل ورزیده باشد است قصور How can you believe that the Bestower of every type of light Has become stingy and deficient! چوں پسندی که حضرت غیور ہست عاجز چو مردگان قبور How can you believe that God, who is Jealous of His Honour, Is as helpless as the dead lying in their graves! تعظیم بہر یم ہست مذہب دیں تف بر آن دیں کہ میکند توہین The glorification of God is the raison d'être of religion and faith; Cursed be the faith that blasphemes Him!
