114 Essence of Islam-IV Coming of the Promised Messiahs for the Revival of Islam I have been sent in the same way as he who was sent after Mosesas, and whose soul was raised to heaven having endured all kinds of trials in the reign of Herod. When the second Kalīmullāh", who in reality was the first and was the Chief of Prophetssa, came for the an- nihilation of other Pharaohs, and it was said concerning him: إِنَّا أَرْسَلْنَا إِلَيْكُمْ رَسُولًا شَاهِدًا عَلَيْكُمْ كَمَا أَرْسَلْنَا إِلَى فِرْعَوْنَ رَسُولًا " he too, being the like of the first Kalīmullāh but of much higher rank, was promised a Messiah like the first Messiah. This Promised Messiah, having been bestowed the power and disposition and characteris- tics of the Messiah son of Maryas, descended from heaven at a time which was like the time of the first Messiah and after more or less the same period of time as had separated the Messiah son of Maryas from the first Kalīmullāh, i. e. , in the fourteenth cen- tury. His was a spiritual descent like the descent of the perfect ones who, after their spiritual ascent, de- scend for the reform of God's creatures.
