135 FOOTNOTE NUMBER ELEVEN SEVENTH OBJECTION اگر در ہوا ہمچو مرغان پری وگر بر سر آب با بگذری وگر از آتش آئی سلامت بروں If you fly in the air like birds, If you walk on water, وگر خاک را زرگنی از فسوں If you come out of fire unscathed, If you turn dust into gold through alchemy, نیاری که حق را کنی زیر و پست مکن ژاژ خائی چو مجنون و مست You would still not be able to destroy the truth, So you better stop talking nonsense like the insane and the drunk. خدا هر که را کرد مہر منیر نه گردد از دست تو خاک حقیر He whom God has made a radiant sun, Cannot be turned into worthless dust by your efforts. دل خود بہرزہ مسوز اے دنی نہ کاہد ز مگر تو افزودنی O wretched one, do not torment yourself in vain, That which is destined to grow cannot diminish by your machinations. بهارست و باد صبا در چمن کند نازها با گل و یا سمن It is the season of spring, and the gentle breeze, Is playing with the rose and jasmine in the garden. ز نسرین و گلہائے فصل بہار نسیم صبا سے وزد عطر بار The fresh spring air, fragrant with rosa canina, Is scattering its scent all around. تو اے ابله افتاده اندر خزاں ہمہ برگ افشانده چوں مفلساں But you, O foolish one, are still languishing in autumn, And all your leaves have withered like one who is destitute.
